Bertelsmann Internet Content Rating Project

The following are links to sites regarding the Munich Internet Content Summit in Sept 1999.

In a paper presented at the Internet Content Summit, the Bertelsmann Foundation called for greater user control over content regulation. The paper recommended user implementation of rating, filtering and security technology for content regulation, and that international hotlines and "credible self-regulatory institutions" be created to resolve user complaints. The foundation stated its belief that freedom of speech and child protection online go hand in hand. What is needed, it said, is "a new culture of responsibility."
